Here’s the dish on roof permits: A final roof permit is required for Underwriting review on all new business policies. When it comes to verifying the age of the roofing system, we’re as strict as a Thanksgiving feast table setting.

We currently accept the following roof ages:

• 15 yrs. for flat roofs
• 15 yrs. for shingle roofs
• 25 yrs. for tile/metal roofs

And don’t forget, for homes with a roof 15 years or older, a roof inspection by an approved inspector from Home Inspection Services (561-609-1003) may be required.

Underwriting gravy: For all homes older than 5 years, a full PTI interior/exterior inspection is required. To make this process as smooth as mashed potatoes, we recommend transferring your client to Home Inspection Services (HIS) at 561-609-1003 immediately after binding. If you are unable to transfer the call, don’t worry; HIS will reach out to your client the day after the policy is bound. Remember, the inspection should be scheduled and completed within 21 days of the effective date, or the policy may turn into a pumpkin! 🎃

Making things easy as pie: If your client can provide a Pre-Purchase Home Inspection that meets our Underwriting criteria for new purchases, we just might waive the requirement. For more details, visit the Inspections page on our website.
